LOCATION-YOBE STATE
I had just recieved my NYSC posting letter and I was very happy.I hurriedly opened it and found out I had been posted to the northern part of the country-Yobe to be precise.
I could not remember hearing anything about the state but for when i am trying to recite Nigeria states and her capitals as a kid.I immediately picked up the phone and called my mum.She then told me it should be somewhere not far from Maiduguri.She knew this because, she had served in old Gongola state.
Camp was opening the following week, so, I had to rush home."Lagos to Maiduguri by road should be 23 hours ' mum had said.
I was not bothered. I had never really travel this long a distance before and was glad I was going far this time around.I also had always wanted to learn the Hausa Language.This was an avenue for me to learn the language I thought to myself.
It was not long before I was done with packing and other arrangements and on that wonderful thursday,I joined a bus which was going to Maiduguri and told him I was a Yobe Corper.He was happy to help and told me to enjoy the ride as he would drop me at my destination-Potiskum,Yobe.
I was in high spirit.I sat down comfortably beside the window and waited for the bus to get filled.I had paid my fare and was now imagining what life on camp would be like and before I knew what was happening, I was fast asleep.
